The National PanHellenic Council Inc., Charlotte Chapter congratulates Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. on its 108th Founders’ Day


Charlotte, NC— January 9, 2022 — The National PanHellenic Council Inc. - Charlotte Chapter celebrates the 108th Founders’ Day for the brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Founded on the campus of Howard University on January 9, 1914, the Founders, Honorable A. Langston Taylor, Honorable Leonard F. Morse, and Honorable Charles I. Brown wanted to organize a Greek letter fraternity that would truly exemplify the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship, and service.-History & Mission – Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. There are four main programs of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.: Bigger and Better Business, Education, Social Action and Sigma Beta Clubs that embrace these objectives:

  • To support Sigma’s vision of ensuring programs that are focused and committed to serving our communities and serving young males through mentoring and scholarships;

  • To ensure symmetry among all organizational and community initiatives;

  • To develop a sense of pride and commitment in the community toward healthy living that will reduce the incidences of health conditions that adversely affect men of color.-Programs – Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. (phibetasigma1914.org)

The National PanHellenic Council Inc. - Charlotte Chapter salutes the brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. as they celebrate their 108th Founders’ Day!

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) was founded on May 10, 1930 at Howard University in Washington, DC. The chartering organizations were: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. In 1931, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., joined the council, followed by Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. in 1937. The NPHC incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois in 1937. Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. joined the NPHC as its ninth (9th) affiliate member in 1997.
