Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. on its 114th Founders’ Day


Charlotte, NC— January 15th, 2022 — The National PanHellenic Council Inc. - Charlotte Chapter celebrates the 114th Founders’ Day of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. The Sorority’s theme is EXEMPLIFYING EXCELLENCE THROUGH SUSTAINABLE SERVICE. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority has 1,044 chapters in 44 U.S. States, 1 U.S. Territory and 10 Countries with a membership of 320,000, led by Dr. Glenda Glover, the 30th International President.


The Sorority focuses on two key arenas: the lifelong personal and professional development of each of its members; and galvanizing its membership into an organization of respected power and influence, consistently at the forefront of effective advocacy and social change that results in equality and equity for all citizens of the world.-Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. - Service to All Mankind Since 1908 (aka1908.com)


Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc has two local chapters that are members of The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc.-Charlotte Chapter:


Today, we honor the legacy, traditions, initiatives and contributions of Alpha Lambda Omega and Rho Psi Omega Chapters both in our local area and in Internationally. The National PanHellenic Council Inc. - Charlotte Chapter celebrates the accomplishments of the past 114 years and look forward to the future ahead for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) was founded on May 10, 1930 at Howard University in Washington, DC. The chartering organizations were: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. In 1931, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., joined the council, followed by Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. in 1937. The NPHC incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois in 1937. Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. joined the NPHC as its ninth (9th) affiliate member in 1997.
